Makes 4 servings
Ingredients
5-6 organic apples (my favorite is a mix of Granny Smith and a sweeter red apple like Fuji or Gala)
filtered water
Instructions
1. peel and cut the apples into small pieces, kind of like you would for an apple pie or crisp
2. place apples in the pot and fill the pot with filtered water to where it covers about half of the apples
3. bring the apples to a boil for 2-3 minutes, then reduce heat to medium and let them simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally
4. when the apples are soft and not yet mushy and there's a little bit of an apple liquid that's formed around them, they are ready to serve!
5. Add your favorite toppings: pecans, cinnamon, sliced almonds, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg or berries and drizzle coconut cream on top for a decadent yet healthy treat.
